More Than 100 Israeli Settlers Attack West Bank Village, Clash with Troops and Torch Palestinian Homes in Jalud Rampage

Record added

More than 100 Israeli settlers attacked the Palestinian village of Jalud in the northern occupied West Bank on the night of September 28-29, 2026, setting fire to two homes belonging to the Tubasi family, blocking roads, throwing stones at Israeli security forces and injuring three soldiers, according to witnesses, the Israeli military and multiple outlets. Israeli forces were attempting to facilitate the return of the displaced Tubasi family to their homes when settlers rioted, preventing the family's return and forcing them to evacuate again at gunpoint. Reuters journalists who reached the homes on September 29 found walls blackened with tar and residue from tires the settlers had brought in and set ablaze, with bathrooms, doors and windows smashed.

In a statement, the Israeli military said settlers rioted overnight, blocking roads, setting tires on fire and throwing stones at security forces, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the violence and called on law enforcement to prosecute perpetrators. Wael Tubasi, who owns one of the homes, told Reuters the homes were damaged beyond description. The International Committee of the Red Cross called for urgent protection for the population in the West Bank and an end to recurring acts of violence.

The Tubasi family remains displaced and unable to return to their homes. Israeli and Palestinian rights groups say settler perpetrators are rarely punished for violence, creating uncertainty about whether those responsible will face prosecution despite Netanyahu's call for enforcement.
