Samsung Proposes HBM4 Memory Prices Above Three Times HBM3E Levels in 2027 Supply Negotiations

Samsung Electronics has proposed pricing in the mid-to-high 4 dollar range per gigabit for 2027 high-bandwidth memory HBM4 during negotiations with major customers, more than three times the roughly 1.50 dollar price for current HBM3E, according to Korean media reported by TokenPost, Sammy Fans, and other outlets on October 2, 2026. Industry estimates put the average HBM selling price in 2027 about 121 percent above 2026 levels, with a 12-layer, 36GB HBM4 unit estimated to rise from about 600 dollars this year to about 1,300 dollars next year. Samsung has already entered annual supply negotiations with key customers, with most of next year's major HBM volumes understood to be largely negotiated. Samsung's HBM4 has stably achieved data transfer rates of 11.7 Gbps with peak speeds reaching up to 13 Gbps, according to reporting citing industry insiders. KB Securities expects Samsung's HBM prices to rise by more than 100 percent in 2027, with HBM4 expected to account for around 80 percent of Samsung's HBM sales next year compared with 40 percent in 2026. Micron Chief Executive Sanjay Mehrotra said HBM prices next year would be far higher than 2026, and that Micron has agreements for most of its 2027 HBM bit supply.

AI accelerator makers face substantially higher memory costs in 2027, with the pricing increase directly affecting system economics. TrendForce notes that expanding AI server demand and competition for advanced process capacity will keep memory supply tight through 2027.
