Dubai Tourism Records 869,000 Visitors in August 2026, Strongest Monthly Performance Since February as Hotel Occupancy Recovers to 66 Percent

Dubai welcomed 869,000 international overnight visitors in August 2026, marking the strongest monthly visitor volume the emirate has recorded since February, according to the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism. The August figure brings Dubai's total international visitor count for January through August 2026 to 6.97 million, as the emirate's tourism sector continues its recovery from disruption caused by the Iran war earlier in the year. Hotel occupancy reached 66 percent in August, a sharp recovery from 36 percent recorded in March and equivalent to approximately 89 percent of the level achieved during the same month in 2025. Dubai hotels recorded 21.61 million occupied room nights across the first eight months of 2026, with hotel inventory approaching 149,000 rooms by the end of August. Western Europe remained the largest visitor region during the period, accounting for 20 percent of international arrivals, followed by South Asia at 17 percent, the Gulf at 16 percent, and CIS and Eastern Europe at 14 percent. Dubai's recovery has been supported by restored air connectivity, with Emirates airline restoring 97 percent of its worldwide network and passenger load factors at Dubai International Airport moving closer to 2025 levels. The emirate added approximately 200,000 residents this year, taking the total population to about 4.7 million. Dubai attracted a record 19.59 million visitors in 2025 and was widely expected to hit a long-time target of 20 million in 2026 before the conflict disrupted travel patterns. The 33rd edition of Arabian Travel Market opened at Dubai World Trade Centre on September 14, providing an opportunity for industry stakeholders to assess the sector's recovery trajectory.
