The speech came as tens of thousands marched through Sanaa on Friday in a show of support for the Iran-backed Houthis and against Saudi Arabia, as the rebels press gains that have brought large stretches of Yemen's Red Sea coast, including the strategic Bab al-Mandeb Strait, under their control. Earlier in the week, the Houthis launched their first attack on the Saudi capital Riyadh since the escalation opened a new front in the Iran war, with Saudi authorities confirming they intercepted a ballistic missile targeting the capital on September 19.
