• Sept 15 — Jeddah/Makkah region: Civil Defense issued midday mobile alerts across the Jeddah/Makkah region; alerts were lifted after airspace was declared safe.

• Sept 16 — South of Mecca: Coalition air defenses intercepted a Houthi drone before it entered Mecca's restricted airspace. Saudi officials called it a "red line" violation, the first time in nearly a decade the Houthis have targeted the vicinity of Islam's holiest city. Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree denied targeting Mecca and called the Saudi account propaganda.

• Sept 17 — Taif (fatality) & Yanbu claim: Drone-interception debris killed one person (a Yemeni national) and injured two others (a Saudi woman and a critically ill Pakistani resident) in Taif — the first confirmed death in the kingdom since attacks resumed. The same day, Saree claimed a strike on Saudi Aramco facilities in Yanbu; Saudi Arabia has not confirmed this.

Casualty Context

Two distinct injury tolls are in circulation and should not be combined: 13 civilians wounded in the Sept 14 coalition-confirmed barrage on Khamis Mushait/Abha/Taif, and a separate figure of 73 civilians injured that Saudi Arabia's UN ambassador cited on Sept 11 covering earlier attacks on Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran. The Sept 17 Taif death is the only fatality confirmed to date.
