RTA Opens 700-Metre Al Qudra Bridge on August 9, Cutting Intersection Wait Times from Seven Minutes to One and Boosting Hourly Capacity 85 Percent

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority opened a four-lane bridge on August 9, 2026, on the southern side of the intersection of Al Qudra Road and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, as part of the Al Qudra Street Development Project. The 700-metre bridge has a capacity of 6,000 vehicles per hour and serves traffic flow along Al Qudra Road towards Al Qudra City. The opening completes the main traffic configuration at the intersection, following the opening of the opposite bridge in February, which serves traffic from Al Qudra City towards Umm Suqeim. The project has reduced delays at the intersection from nearly seven minutes to just one minute, and increased the road's capacity from around 7,800 vehicles per hour to 19,400 vehicles per hour, an 85 percent reduction in waiting time. Additional side ramp bridges totalling 500 metres (towards Jebel Ali) and 900 metres (towards Downtown Dubai and Dubai International Airport) are scheduled to open in Q4 2026, along with three kilometres of service roads on both sides of Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street.
