Space42 Launches Future Spacers Programme to Build UAE Pipeline in Space, AI, and Emerging Technologies

Space42, the UAE-based AI-powered SpaceTech company, launched the Future Spacers Programme on September 4 to develop Emirati talent in space, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies, according to WAM, Abu Dhabi Media Office, SatellitePro ME, and Arab Herald. In line with the UAE National Space Strategy 2031, the programme offers Emirati students interested in STEM, AI, data management, and emerging technologies up to 16 weeks of training at Space42 facilities. The inaugural 2026 cohort includes students from Khalifa University of Science and Technology, Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, Zayed University, and schools identified by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge, selected through a process that assessed enrollment in relevant STEM fields, minimum GPA requirements, and interviews. Theoretical seminars will explore space-based technology and AI-driven data analysis, while practical experience will focus on business and industry challenges, supplemented by professional skill development in problem-solving, collaboration, communication, and adaptability. The programme culminates in Space42 certification recognized by partner entities, with upcoming cohorts welcomed on a bi-annual basis. This initiative matters because it addresses a structural constraint that has long limited the UAE's space ambitions: the supply of locally trained engineers, data scientists, and mission specialists capable of sustaining sovereign space capabilities. Space42 Vice President of Talent Engagement Adith Abraham framed it clearly, stating that the future of space will be shaped by the talent nurtured today as space and AI disciplines continue to overlap. For a country that has moved rapidly from launching missions to operating satellites, hosting astronauts, and now integrating geospatial intelligence with AI at commercial scale, the bottleneck is no longer capital or ambition — it is human capital. By embedding students in real operation
