President Donald Trump announced at the United Nations General Assembly on September 22, 2026, that from this point forward all of the United States documents and hopefully the world's documents will be changed to use the much more accurate term super intelligence as opposed to artificial, according to The Hill, The Washington Post, The Washington Times, and Axios. Trump told assembled world leaders that the use of the word artificial makes intelligence fake, it makes it sound fake and it is not fake, it's actually amazing, according to Euronews and Axios. The State Department's international organizations bureau sent an email earlier this week instructing staff to stop using the term artificial intelligence and use super intelligence instead, with SI to be used in all remarks, positions and press elements moving forward, according to Euronews citing an Associated Press-obtained email from deputy assistant secretary Michael Drager. Trump claimed on social media on September 25, a day after a state dinner with Chinese leader Xi Jinping and top tech executives, that Xi seemed to like calling the poorly and inaccurately named Artificial Intelligence to a far more accurate and important name, SUPER INTELLIGENCE, according to The Washington Post. Axios reported that superintelligence already has a distinct meaning in AI, broadly referring to AI that surpasses human cognition, and has become both an industry ambition and the focus of efforts to slow its development or ban it altogether. Trump doesn't seem to be talking about that kind of superintelligent AI, instead objecting to the word artificial as making it sound fake when he believes it is actually amazing, according to Axios.
