UAE Search and Rescue Team Continues Field Operations in Nepal's Rasuwa District After Delivering 148 Tonnes of Aid

The UAE Search and Rescue Team has begun field operations in Nepal's Rasuwa district as part of a $10 million humanitarian response to devastating floods and landslides that killed more than 1,300 people and left over 5,500 missing, according to The National, Gulf News, and WAM reporting from September 1 through September 7. The specialist team comprises members of the UAE Joint Operations Command, the Dubai Police search and rescue team, and the UAE Aid Agency, with expertise in disaster relief, medical evacuation, and first aid. The mission arrived in Nepal on September 4 and immediately began coordinating with Nepalese authorities to assess damage, conduct ground surveys using advanced equipment and drones for aerial imaging, and distribute food and essential supplies to affected communities. The UAE has transported 148 tonnes of aid across three aircraft, including food, shelter materials, and power generators, under directives from President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The disaster was triggered by a glacier collapse and landslide on August 26 at the Nepal-Tibet border, causing widespread destruction along river valleys including the Trishuli and Bhotekoshi. The UAE relief effort reinforces the country's humanitarian diplomacy and operational capacity to mobilize search-and-rescue assets rapidly in response to natural disasters across the region, while the $10 million allocation is intended to support early recovery, promote stability, and provide essential supplies to vulnerable populations of all age groups.
