Woman Killed in Pune After Temporary Dahi Handi Structure Collapses During Dismantling

A 45-year-old woman identified as Salma Salauddin Pathan was killed when a temporary iron structure erected for Dahi Handi celebrations collapsed on her while workers were dismantling it in Old Sangavi area of Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, on Friday night, September 4-5, 2026, according to Press Trust of India, Latestly, and Telangana Today. The incident occurred after the Dahi Handi event organized by the Vighnaharta Mandal had concluded. Pathan suffered severe head injuries after the structure fell on her and was rushed to a hospital for treatment, but doctors declared her dead. The Pune incident came amid reports of injuries during Dahi Handi celebrations in Mumbai, where at least 22 Govindas sustained injuries during the festivities on Saturday, September 5.
